Machiavellianism And Power Within The Tory Party
Just when I thought my contempt had bottomed-out.
A little voice in my head was warning me not to do it, to stay away from what would inevitably lead to more despondency, cynicism and regret. Like eating a kebab on a drunken night out and then watching a YouTube video the next day which explains what the thing is made from and how it’s produced — I decided to look into who the Tory leadership candidates were and what they stood for.
Unlike an investigation into kebab meat however, an investigation into the backgrounds of the Tory candidates reveals nothing of interest whatsoever. You can try it yourself, simply scroll through their Wikipedia pages one by one and you’ll struggle to find a single principle or core set of values, it’s simply a list of previously held job titles within the governmental bureaucracy. Hell, even the Asians didn’t have a regrettable history of fundamentalism or novelty takes on the benefits of Sharia or Sikh law.
The Tory Party seems to operate more like a corporation or a supermarket than a political organization with a coherent philosophy and worldview. How can politicians who believe in nothing claim to be making the world a better place or that they’re ardent defenders of what is worth ‘‘conserving’’?
