Not having read the books, the only knowledge I had of Dune was from the 1983 Iron Maiden song "To Tame a Land" a song that should have been called Dune, but apparently Herbert wasn't a fan of Heavy Metal and wouldn't allow it. Like the first film I actually enjoyed this one, unlike most other movies I wasn't sitting in the pictures saying to mysel "This is pish!" but like you guys said, perhaps compared to most movies today it shines in comparison, however that is a low bar. Thanks for all the info on the books, I may try and give them ago now.
